An Invitation from Melissa

“Hello Friends,

“On June 22-26, 2017, I’ll be leading an unprecedented visit to Havana, Cuba! We’ll be spending four days in this incredible country for M.E. In Havana. We’ll call the gorgeous Melia Miramar hotel in Old Havana our home while we are taking in everything Cuba has to offer. I can’t wait to experience Cuba’s culture; the beautiful people, the island, its food, the arts, and so much more.

There’s this beauty and romance to it. I’m going to experience that for the first time hopefully with you!

“It seems unbelievable that we’ll be visiting Cuba together! I grew up during the sixties, and remember people talking about it. I remember Cuba being this mythical place that was so close — yet, somehow, still a world away.

“There’s this beauty and romance to it. I’m going to experience that for the first time hopefully with you! Expect to see things you won’t see anywhere else. We’ll have a front row seat for this historic moment of music, society, freedom, and change. You’ll be right there with me as we experience all of this together!

“Something that’s very important to me during this trip, if possible, will be doing some outreach in the LGBT community. I’d love to visit with some of the local LGBT leaders and artists.

“In addition to experiencing the local culture, I’ll be playing two very cool shows. The first will be an intimate, private show just for our group. For the second, I’ll be teaming up with some local musicians for a public performance. I’m so excited for the opportunity to play alongside these talented artists since they have such a fire and a willingness to get lost in the music.

You’ll be right there with me as we experience all of this together!

“It’s going to be interesting to see what kind of inspiration comes out of this trip. Lately, I’ve been finding so much inspiration from looking outside of myself. I recently did the Memphis Rock and Soul album, paying tribute to classic soul musicians. You really can learn a lot about yourself by stepping out of your comfort zone.

“I hope that I’m inspired beyond my wildest dreams to create music and joy. I hope I come back with a new feeling about our human race, our times, and what the future holds.

“And I truly hope that you can be there with me.”

Yours truly,
Melissa Etheridge

From there, go to one of Havana’s finest restaurants followed by a welcoming concert by Canelas, a Cuban, eight-piece, female salsa and dance band!

On each of the next three days, we will start in the morning with one-of-a-kind cultural adventures in Havana. Among the trips we are offering will be walking tours of Havana, visits with leading artists and musicians, museum tours, architectural tours, salsa dancing, cigar tasting and much more! This will be followed by lunch then another round of cultural fun with our Cuban hosts. After that, we have optional activities for those of you who want to take advantage of them or chill time, for those who wouldn’t mind sitting by the pool, relaxing, and catching up from the busy day. And at nights, we go out to a new restaurant each day for a wonderful meal.

Melissa Etheridge will be performing twice in the middle of all this! On the second night of the trip she will be performing just for our group at Fábrica de Arte Cubano. Transformed from a steel drum factory, this Havana art club and restaurant is one of the hottest spots for music in Havana. On the final night of the trip, Melissa will perform again, this time to a Cuban audience plus all of us at Teatro Mella. For her performance, Melissa will be joined by special guest William Vivanco Cuban horns, singers, percussion, and piano, to be announced soon!
